The Family Connection

A number of times Jesus spoke to those about Him about "your Father".  Many people look upon God as a tyrant, unwilling to forgive, ready to punish at the first error on our part, willing to destroy if we do not do what He wants us to do.  But Jesus pictured Him as the opposite of what we often commonly think.   If we were to see God as one who is forgiving, full of mercy, seeking our best interest, we would live entirely different lives - lives of joy, peace, having no interest in hating others, or seeking revenge upon them.  Retaliation would be foreign to our thinking, and injury to others would be offensive to us.  Healing would be the order of the day for us.  We would be hoping and desiring and acting upon the best interest of others.

Below are a number of verses in the New Testament of the Scriptures, the Bible, God's book, in which Jesus refers to God as "your Father".  He is "our Father" in heaven whose desire is for our best interest.  This may sound foreign to all the negative things that have gone on over the face of this earth for the past thousands of years, and which are still going on around us today, yet "our Father" in heaven has our best interest at heart.  Examine the Scriptures, look at His activities in the affairs of men.  Look at His laws of protection, laws that promote the good-will of men towards one another.  If we would just see Him as who He really is, we would all live in peace as was His original design when He first created the world through His Son, Jesus.

Give Him opportunity to change your life, and as mine has been changed, and is far better than I have ever imagined it could possibly be, so yours can also be.

Matthew 5

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 6

1 ¶Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 7

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 10

20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

Matthew 18

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Matthew 23

9 And call no man your Father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Mark 11

25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Luke 6

36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Luke 12

30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

John 20

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
